Cushion forklift tires are built of smooth, solid rubber and are fitted around a metal rim. Compared to pneumatic tires, this type of tire is easier to maintain and cheaper to manufacture, lowering operations costs. However, these tires do not get a similar level of traction as pneumatic tires do. Therefore, cushion tires are generally best for flat and smooth surfaces and are ideal for indoor applications rather than outdoor settings.
Common operational uses of forklifts with cushion tires include:   Loading docks and Indoor warehouses
 

Press-on solid tires are engineered for heavy-duty material handling on smooth, indoor surfaces, primarily for electric forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks. They are best suited for warehouses, distribution centers, factories, and airports, offering high stability, puncture resistance, and excellent maneuverability in tight, narrow-aisle applications.

• Environments: Ideal for indoor warehouses with concrete or smooth, level floors, and areas with metal ramps that might damage pneumatic tires.
• Equipment: Used on electric, sit-down, and stand-up forklifts.
• Performance Benefits: Their lower profile provides a tighter turning radius and a lower center of gravity, which improves stability when lifting heavy loads.
• Types: Available in rubber (for shock absorption) and polyurethane (for high-load, heavy-duty abrasion resistance). 

They are not suitable for rough, uneven, or outdoor, unpaved terrain.
